Mental Models

Aligning design strategy with human behavior

Mental Models

Don't Focus on Demographics

When I give workshops and help clients recruit people to interview for mental models, I tell them over and over again, "Recruit for behaviors, not for demographics." If there is a demographic that you think will affect behavior, then layer it on after the primary behavior selection. So you can imagine how happy I was to read Dana Chisnell's recent interview with Jared Spool called Avoiding Demographics When Recruiting Participants.
