We've been huge fans of the growing UX Book Club movement ever since it was a twinkle in Steve Baty's and Andrew Boyd's eyes. In a few months, about 60 clubs have cropped up in locations all around the world (is there one in your area? if not, start one; it's easy). Just this month, there are over 20 meetings, from Auckland to Warsaw.
If you're an organizer, here's how Rosenfeld Media can help:
- We'll send a code for a whopping 30% discount for you to share with your local UX Book Club peeps
- We'll send complimentary copies of our books (paperback and digital to US-based clubs, digital only outside the US)
- We'll cajole our authors into joining the discussion via Skype or equivalent; so far, they've been quite willing!
We're proud that each of our titles has been the subject of book club meetings; in fact, Indi Young's Mental Models is, at this time, the second most-discussed book. In any case, the UX Clubs are a Good Thing, and we'll try to do our best to help out. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do.

This is a very good thing, Louis - I've been a part of the UX Bookclub in London and this will really help people access your work and keep the book club's thriving. Thank you.
Just wondering whether, separately, you've ever considered a patron type of arrangement whereby someone could contribute a certain amount a year and receive every book Rosenfeld Media publishes. I'm just saying, because I'd be interested - and a lot of others I suspect.

Hi Andrew, many thanks for the suggestion. It's definitely a good idea--and has been suggested before. The problem is we don't know how many books we'll publish in a given year. If we tried something that wasn't time-boxed, along the lines of "for US$100 will get you whatever our next four titles are," would that be at all attractive?

Lou,
Thanks so much. The ongoing support of Rosenfeld Media is also a Good Thing, and we're really fortunate to have it.
Many thanks
Steve

Lou, thanks for the response - that sort of model would definitely work for me. I think there are a lot of people who'd be be prepared to give you a bit of predictability on sales in income for what I think is recognized as an important series of books. So, in other words, go for it!
