“Web Form Design” now on sale!

Web Form Design

We're excited to announce that Luke Wroblewski's long-awaited book, "Web Form Design: Filling in the Blanks," is now available! And with hundreds of sales since our soft launch earlier today, apparently we're not the only ones!

When you buy directly from Rosenfeld Media, you'll pay US$36 for the paperback and digital editions, US$19 for digital only. (Compare with US$36 for paperback only at Amazon.)

The paperback is 244 pages with high quality paper stock, a sewn binding, and a full color interior. At 6"x9", it'll be easy to stuff in your carry-on bag for reading during the flight to your next client meeting. And of course, the digital edition (373 pages) is pretty easy to take along too; in fact, it's been designed, tested, and optimized for on-screen use. Both editions are graced with 216 illustrations, which we've made available for you via Flickr to peruse, download, and use in your own presentations.

We're quite thrilled with Luke's work—from his original research to the volume of practical advice he's managed to cram into this book. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we have.

Lou,

great to see the Rosenfeld Media empire deliver another definitive work.

I have got a couple of minor comments about the ordering/bookshelf functionality.

Cheers

Minor, huh? ;-) This is great Chris; I really appreciate it. I'll be commenting on your posting when I get a chance, and posting something here about our cart and its various issues.

Just made the purchase, and am already digging through the digital version. I think this is the book I've been waiting for to help me win some design arguments in the workplace! :)

And FYI, I was going to order using IE7, but noticed that once you reached the "Create Order" page (/checkout/index.php) that shows your shipping and billing info (the discount code input is at the bottom) the SSL lock indicator disappears (although the URL still has https.) Better safe than sorry, I placed my order via Firefox with no issues.

Thx!

Thanks JimmyD; another glitch we'll need to fix! :-/

I really want to buy the book, but I can't.

At first the ordering process just wouldn't work. I can easily forgive you for that.

But now, I get to the very last step before purchase and the ONLY way for me to pay is by entering in my credit card info on your insecure website where I have no idea how my information will be stored or used?

Give us some more options. PayPal or some other online merchant that is widely used please.

Rob, while we've definitely had some problems with our storefront--ones that we're diligently trying to fix (as in right at this moment), I'm horrified to learn that it didn't work for you at all. We're upgrading our server to make it a bit faster at handling concurrent downloads of 16Mb ebook files. But you might have had a different problem; can you be more specific? And where did you find the site to be insecure?

You do have another option for purchasing the book: Amazon. Interestingly, Amazon--a slightly larger ecommerce vendor than Rosenfeld Media--has not been able to transmit order information to publishers like us since yesterday afternoon. (If you placed an order there, don't worry; they'll eventually fix the problem and get us your order information. When is another question.) So even the big guys have systems problems...

Lou,

I have just received my copy of "Web Form Design" in good time and have found that both of my transatlinc orders have got to me with no problems at all.

However, I have had some more problems with the usability of the navigation model of the site.

You can read more on my blog, and you can also take a look at "Rosenfeld Media - The Missing Sitemap".

Thanks Chris; this is very generous of you! Will comment on your site.

Wanted to buy the digital version, makes it hard by not supporting Paypal.

Peace

Agreed, it would be nice, but... Supporting PayPal seems to require either plugging them into our storefront (meaning a very disjointed user experience, and one that we can't really control/improve), or making a significant investment in integrating it on our backend for a very small number of transactions.

As a small business (that's already invested what's probably a disproportionately large amount of time and money in its shopping experience), we're very hesitant to add this. But, if we sense that there is significant demand for PayPal, we'll certainly reconsider.

We don’t like these either (but comment spam makes them a must)
